In real terms, the Indian construction industry
registered an average annual growth rate of 3.5% during the review
period (20122016). This growth was supported by the 12th Five-Year Plan

2015, the government launched the Smart City Mission and the Atal
Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme. Under
the Smart City Mission, the government plans to develop the

- To meet the rising housing demand from lower- and middle-income groups, the government plans to develop affordable housing projects across the country under the social housing program.
